Sunday in the Park With George
Choreographer
Pasadena Playhouse
In James Lapine’s book, Putting It Together, Randolyn Zinn speaks about her experience of being hired as a choreographer of a musical (Sunday in the Park) with no dancing. I could absolutely relate to her feelings and insecurities as I began to prep for our production of SITPWG.
Though there isn’t any dance in SITPWG, there is a lot of musical staging and musical transitions and Sarna Lapine (our director) fully used and embraced my expertise to make the show come to life.
Sarna directed the Broadway revival in 2017, and while our Pasadena Playhouse version was similar in many ways, I’m proud to say that we made our own new and unique version of the show, specific to this company of actors and our California audiences.
